How do I import the rules file?
On a computer, not a phone. Gmail only offers filter import on desktop.
- Click Download the rules file on the setup page
- In Gmail, click the gear icon, then See all settings
- Open the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab
- Scroll to the bottom and click Import filters
- Choose the file you downloaded, click Open file, then Create filters
Tick Also apply to matching conversations on the last step if you want it to sort the mail already sitting in your inbox, not just new mail.
Gmail creates the eight labels for you as it creates the rules.
Google says the app isn't verified
That is expected right now. ICARUS is still going through Google's review, so Google shows a caution screen for it.
- Tap Advanced at the bottom of the screen
- Tap Go to ICARUS Mail Organizer
- Tap Continue to approve the two permissions
You can read exactly what the permissions allow on the privacy page. ICARUS cannot read, send, or delete your mail.
My link says it isn't valid
Links are per-person and can be turned off. Ask the person who sent it to issue you a fresh one.
I approved it but nothing happened
Open Gmail and look down the left sidebar. If you have a lot of labels, the ICARUS ones may be collapsed under More. Filters appear under Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses.
If the completion page said some rules failed, the sender can see the exact Google error on their dashboard and re-send your link. Running it again only creates what is missing.
Can ICARUS read my email?
No. It never requests permission to read message content, and Google enforces that at the account level. The two Gmail permissions it asks for cover labels and filters only.
Does it stay connected to my account?
No. It revokes its own access as soon as the setup finishes. You can verify this at myaccount.google.com/permissions — ICARUS Mail Organizer will not appear in the list.
How do I undo it?
Delete the ICARUS labels in Gmail, and delete the ICARUS rules under Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses. Nothing else is affected, and your mail is never moved or deleted by removing them.
